St Johns College School and St John's College

On 10 September 2021, St John’s College School, which up to that point had legally been part of St John’s College, became its own separate legal entity and a separately registered charity (with registration number 1194790).

There were two principal advantages that it was felt would flow from the change: it would provide a more straightforward and clearer governance structure for the School in that the School would, like most independent schools, be self-standing with its board of governors being the charity trustees; and it would give the school its own legal personality meaning it could contract with suppliers, employ staff, etc. in its own name.

The School remains a wholly owned subsidiary of the College and there is no intention that the incorporation of the School leads to any changes in its nature or operations. The relationship between the College and the School remains extremely strong and is highly valued by both.

Our Governing Body
