The School is seeking to appoint a reliable and practical Kitchen Assistant from September 2017.
St John’s College School has long enjoyed and deserved a national reputation for the exceptional quality of education and care it provides, which focuses on fostering the aptitudes and nurturing the growth of each child. The School is located on Grange Road and spread across a number of sites, most of which have undergone significant development in the last five years to ensure the facilities, layout and fabric of the buildings fully support the delivery of the School’s ethos.
In this role, you will be required to assist in the daily duties of the kitchen which will include salad and sandwich preparation, milk run to classes, lunch service, daily cleaning tasks, washing up duties, putting away deliveries, maintaining stock levels in the staff room and cleaning of the dining room, amongst other duties.
We are looking for someone who is reliable with excellent hygiene standards. You will have impeccable timekeeping and will be a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude. You will be expected to be willing to help others out in the team as and when needed. You will be required to use your own initiative in a busy environment, whilst keeping standards high at all times. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all necessary training required to fulfil the role.
This role is for 37 weeks of the year. Working days are Monday to Friday. Exact working times are to be confirmed, but you will work between 30 and 34 hours per week, excluding a daily 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Start time will be either 7.00am, 7.30am or 9.00am (to be confirmed). There will be a need for some flexibility.
You may be required to work evenings and Saturdays for special events such as Speech and Sports Day. You will also be expected to be available for major school events, such as Firework Night.
|Holiday||The annual paid holiday entitlement for this role is 5 weeks. Holidays will be allocated when the School’s offices are closed and according to the schedule set by the Director of Operations. No holiday is to be taken during school office opening periods. The annual holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August.|
|Salary:||The annual FTE (full time equivalent) salary for this role is £15,684 (£8.04 per hour). The actual salary will be between £10,130 and £11,396 per annum, dependent upon final confirmation of exact working hours.|
