St John’s Teacher breaks records at the World Master Swimming Championships

St John’s teacher, Miss Kathryn Loveys, broke swimming records at the World Master Championships in Budapest in the summer. Miss Loveys is now the World Champion in the 50m Breaststroke in the age group 30-34, setting a British record time in her age group.

In total Miss Loveys came away with three medals at the championships in Budapest, achieving an incredible gold in the 50m Breaststroke, silver in the 100m Breaststroke and bronze in the 200m breaststroke.

Miss Loveys explained, “It was an incredible experience, the facilities in Budapest were amazing as there were five 50m pools and four 25m/33m pools across the two sites. In the lead up to the competition I was training 8 times a week in the pool plus 3 land training sessions, I am very fortunate to have great coaches and team mates at City of Cambridge Swimming Club. I was particularly nervous before the 50m breaststroke as this was my last race and it is my best event. I was so pleased to execute the race well and come away with the gold medal. The support from everyone has been amazing and made it an unforgettable experience.”
