We were blessed with glorious sunshine last Sunday as we welcomed around 500 members of the SJCS community to our much-loved annual Parents' Association Fun Day. Current families, alumni, incoming families, staff, and even our new incoming Head, Sarah Wright, joined by her husband and children, gathered on the Playing Fields for an afternoon of joy, friendship and connection.
Fuelled by delicious treats including Biga Pizza, Jack's Gelato ice cream, Scotties hot scotch eggs, Cool Beans artisan coffee, and an impressive selection of home-baked cakes, guests of all ages from babies in buggies to proud grandparents took part enthusiastically in a Fun Run around the Playing Fields. Every participant received a medal, presented by our Head, Mr Chippington
I love baking and was so proud to win 'Best Tasting' cake!
Mrs Wright had the honour of judging the cake competition, which was themed ‘The Environment’. Bakers competed in two categories: ‘Best Looking’ and ‘Best Tasting’. Winners proudly took home the coveted SJCS wooden spoon, along with a red apron and chef’s hat.
Beyond the culinary delights and the Fun Run, there was no shortage of entertainment. Guests enjoyed classic fair games like Lucky Dip, Welly Wanging, and Guess the Name of the Bear. The bouncy castle and inflatable assault course were major hits, while others browsed the plant sale and second-hand uniform stalls.
It was a really lovely day, perfect weather and plenty of fun things to do!
A heartfelt thank you to our enthusiastic Form 6 volunteers, who did a fantastic job marshalling the Fun Run and assisting with glitter tattoos and hair feathers.
We are immensely grateful to the Parents’ Association for their hard work and dedication in organising such a brilliant day. Their efforts not only brought our community together but also raised funds for their chosen charities: Home-Start Cambridgeshire, Castle School Cambridge, and the St John’s College School Bursary Fund.
