Welcome from our Head

Education is a lifelong journey of discovery. In the earliest years, we believe that journey should be filled with excitement, challenge, awe, and wonder. At St John’s, our rich and varied curriculum offers children countless opportunities to explore, question, and make sense of the world around them. Along the way, they uncover their own strengths, face challenges with resilience, and learn to ask that most important question: "why?"

At the heart of St John’s is a deep care for every child as an individual. It is this attention to the whole child that is their learning, their well-being, and their growth that inspires our children have been described by ISI inspectors to:

Respond enthusiastically to high expectations, judicious questioning, imaginative challenges and warm encouragement, and leave us as young people who are socially mature, displaying generosity of spirit and kindness.

Our aspirations are high, but never through pressure or hot-housing. Instead, we nurture a genuine love of learning that stays with children for life. We want them to leave St John’s not only as excellent learners, but also as confident, compassionate young people, equipped with the skills and spirit to make a positive difference in an ever-changing world. As the philosopher Eric Hoffer reminds us:

In times of change learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.

A culture of joyful learning, supported by inspirational teaching and a caring community, leads to exceptional outcomes. This is what makes St John’s so special.

We warmly invite you to visit us and experience it for yourself. I look forward to welcoming you.
