Cover and Activities Administrator

St John's College School

Independent Co-educational, ages 4-13

September 2019

St John’s College School is seeking to appoint a full time Cover and Activities Administrator from March 2019. The role covers a wide range of activities, but focuses mainly on supporting the Administration Manager in the planning of cover for absent colleagues or changes to routines and special events, as well as providing administrative support for after school care and activities and scheduling and staffing of our Thursday afternoon programme for Years 5-8.

St John’s College School has long enjoyed and deserved a national reputation for the exceptional quality of education and care it provides, which focuses on fostering the aptitudes and nurturing the growth of each child.  The School operates across two sites (150m apart) which are home to approximately 470 children and over 120 staff. The two sites run independent timetables, with their own patterns of the day and certain degree of crossover in staffing.

While specific experience of timetabling is desirable, it is not essential if candidates are able to demonstrate the appropriate skills in timetabling, scheduling, planning, logistics, organisation and problem-solving. A personable and confident communicator, with a high attention to detail, excellent numeracy, literacy and IT skills, the successful candidate will share the School’s commitment to finding the best administrative outcomes to support the welfare of the children and the staff and promote the ethos of the School.

Given the need for the Cover and Activities Administrator to be on site from 4:30-6pm while after school clubs are running, the working hours are 10am-6pm, Monday to Friday during term time. Outside of term when after school clubs are not running, the working hours revert to 8:30-4:30pm, Monday to Friday.  The role is both term time (approximately 34 weeks per year) and an additional 4 weeks to be worked outside of term.

A full description of the school and the role can be found in the application pack using the link below.  To apply please complete the online application form on the TES website, or download the form attached below and return it with a handwritten covering letter to the Director of Operations, Mr Alex Loria, by 10am on Monday 25th February.  Early applications are welcomed.

St John’s College School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. The school is an equal opportunities employer.
