On the Friday before half term, Sandys hosted a fantastic fundraiser in support of 'Teach the Teacher', which involved a delicious BBQ, music and games all in Summer home clothes. Sandys was the final of our four Houses to host a charity event, with the children at Senior House already having enjoyed a disco night, film evening and a bake stall.
'Teach the Teacher' is an Outreach charity initiative led by our Head of Computing. The programme aims to provide robotic kits to township schools in South Africa, helping to develop a coding and robotics curriculum for young learners.
Everyone in Senior House (Forms 3 to 6) joined in the fun by wearing home clothes with a summer vibe and, luckily, the sun made an appearance to add to the celebrations. Pupils made a donation to take part, and further funds were raised thanks to the enterprising Form 6s, who sold colourful summer accessories in House colours during lunchtime.
I loved the barbeque, especially the ice-lollies and burgers!
Our catering team were on hand to provide a mouth-watering BBQ, serving herby chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, a range of fresh salads, tropical fruits, and a sweet finish of refreshing organic ice lollies. After lunch, the fun continued with garden games and dancing to upbeat music in a joyful, relaxed atmosphere.
It was a wonderful way to kick off the half-term break. Congratulations to Sandys for organising such a brilliant event, a memorable day enjoyed by all and in support of a truly worthwhile cause.
