Powerhouse Games Unites Pupils in Inclusive Celebration

Body

A group of our Form 6 children joined forces with pupils from Castle School for the Powerhouse Games, a spirited showcase of inclusive sport led by the charity Power2Inspire. The event was a masterclass in teamwork and togetherness, uniting children of all abilities in a day filled with energy, laughter, and shared success.

From the moment they arrived, our pupils embraced the spirit of inclusion, joining Castle School children in a series of adapted games designed to ensure everyone could participate equally. Activities ranged from boccia and goalball to sitting volleyball and goalball, each one encouraging collaboration, communication, and mutual respect.

By the end of the day, it’s hard to believe these teams only came together a few hours earlier as their cohesion and camaraderie are striking. What’s even more powerful is the wholehearted involvement of the all the children; the ease and naturalness of their participation speaks volumes.

The day culminated in a spirited round of seated netball, where pupils demonstrated not only their competitive edge but also their compassion and camaraderie. Cheers echoed around the sports hall as teams passed, pivoted, and scored all from a seated position, levelling the playing field and highlighting the joy of accessible sport.

Following the games, an uplifting awards ceremony celebrated every participant’s contribution. Smiles were wide and applause generous as medals were handed out not for winning, but for showing courage, kindness, and teamwork.

Power2Inspire’s mission to make sport inclusive for all was powerfully realised through this event. Our pupils returned inspired, having forged new friendships and deepened their understanding of what it means to play together, regardless of ability.
