Odd Socks, Big Messages: St John’s Celebrates Anti-Bullying Week

Body

On the 10th November, St John’s marked Odd Socks Day with plenty of colour laughter and creativity! Both pupils and staff joined in by wearing mismatched socks to celebrate what makes each of us unique and to promote the key messages of Anti-Bullying Week (10–14 November 2025) which are kindness, inclusion and respect.

We launched the week with powerful Assemblies exploring this year's theme, 'Power for Good'. The children reflected on what it means to stand up for others, speak out with courage and build a community where everyone feels safe and valued. Teachers and children joined hands (and feet!) to share stories, role-play scenarios and created posters in PSHEE lessons that championed empathy, respect and inclusion.

The variety of socks on display was fantastic, from bright and bold colours to quirky patterns and mismatched lengths, everyone embraced the spirit of the day and showed that our differences are something to be celebrated and proud of.

We talked about how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

At St John’s, we are proud to be a telling school. This means we encourage pupils to speak up if they see someone feeling left out, upset, or treated unfairly. Every concern is listened to, and we are committed to responding with care and support.

My odd socks show that it is ok to be different and that's what makes our world special.

We wear odd socks to show that at our school we won't allow anyone to be harmed and because kindness matters.
