SJCS Skiers Take on the Slopes of La Thuile

Body

This year’s SJCS ski trip to La Thuile, set in the stunning Aosta Valley in Italy, became an experience that extended far beyond skiing alone. Throughout the week, pupils from different year groups demonstrated a remarkable sense of confidence, kindness and team spirit as they embraced both the challenges of the slopes and the rewards of travelling together as a school community.

Staff noted the enthusiasm with which pupils approached each day, their bright red hoodies standing out against the snow as a symbol of their energy and unity. The atmosphere on and off the slopes reflected a group that supported one another, celebrated each other’s achievements and formed friendships that reached across year groups.

Evenings were filled with après ski activities that reinforced the sense of togetherness. Bingo, stories from the day’s skiing, karaoke, laughter and even a chocolate fondue night gave pupils the chance to unwind and enjoy each other’s company. A thirteenth birthday celebration added to the week’s special moments, creating a memory that will be treasured for years to come.

The instructors spoke so highly of the children. They were impressed not only by their progress but also by their attitude and behaviour. Every child was a credit to the school and to their families.

Among the many highlights was the daily sight of the distinctive SJCS helmet covers weaving their way down the mountain. They became a joyful reminder of the group’s shared experience and the pride with which they represented their school. As our skiers return home, they do so with new skills, enduring friendships and a collection of memories that capture the spirit of a truly unforgettable trip.
