Choir Tour to Switzerland and Germany

After the end of term the Choristers set off with St John’s College Choir on a short but concentrated tour to Switzerland and Germany. Their first stop was to the French-speaking Swiss city of Lausanne, ready for their inaugural concert at the Verbier Festival on 25 July. This Festival has boasted impressive names in the classical music field such as Joshua Bell, Martha Argerich and Lang Lang. The Choir performed to a full Église de Verbier and received a standing ovation at the end which prompted an encore of Blue Moon from the Gents.

In between concerts the Choristers also made time to sightsee in Verbier with mini golf, shopping and a paddling pool being the favourites on the agenda. The Choir travelled north for a concert at the Dom St Blasius in the Black Forest in Germany. The dome in this venue was so impressive that Mr Andrew Nethsingha stood further back from the Choir than normal, indulging in the building’s incredible acoustics. They then drove back to Switzerland to the Italian-speaking city of Lugano. This well-received concert at the Chiesa del Sacro Cuore celebrated the ending to the tour and another successful year for the Choir.
