Framlingham Pre-Season Rugby Festival

On Saturday 14th September, our St John’s rugby teams visited Framlingham College for their annual Pre-Season U11 and U13 Prep Schools Rugby Festival. This Festival attracts over 250 boys and it gives coaches and players the opportunity to play in a number of games and to enjoy themselves without the pressure of playing for a trophy.  Brandeston Hall, Barnardiston Hall, Holmwood House, Widford Lodge, Orwell Park, Old Buckenham Hall, Taverham Hall and The Abbey all took part in the day.

The Senior boys’ played four matches and were victorious in all of their games. They used the ball well and attacked the wide channels. Great continuity led to a series of wonderful team tries. The Colts won three matches, drew one and narrowly lost one match on the day. They grew in confidence throughout the Festival and played with a huge amount of desire.

St John’s Sports Administrator, Mr Steve Glitherow said, “I was delighted with the standard of rugby and it was great to see so many boys enjoying the Festival. This is the third year we have taken part and it gives the boys an opportunity to get plenty of rugby practice before the season starts.”
