Byron House kicked off the half-term break in style with a joyful and action-packed Summer Fair. This year’s event was particularly special for the Form 2 pupils, who took responsibility for planning and running their own enterprise stalls; a Byron House tradition before they move up to Senior House in September.
Our Forms 2s worked in small groups to design their own stalls, keeping within budget, sourcing sustainable materials, and tracking their spending with receipts. Many elements were handmade, adding a personal and eco-conscious touch. Their creativity shone through in an array of entertaining games, including Pie in the Face, Spray or Slime, Human Whack-a-Mole, and many more!
Our SJCS teachers added to the fun by providing face painting, glitter tattoos, sweet treats, hook-a-duck, a cake stall, second-hand books and refreshing ice lollies.
This was my first time performing with Strictly and I felt very proud!
A highlight of the afternoon was the trio of delightful performances: a moving 'parachute dance' performed by the youngest Kindergarten (Reception) and some of our older Senior House pupils; a lively folk dance from Form 1; and some impressive ballroom routines from the ever-popular Strictly Club.
Everyone had a wonderful time, enjoying the festive atmosphere and the spirit of community. A special mention goes to Form 2, who worked hard to raise money for charity — and succeeded brilliantly. What a joyful and meaningful way to begin the half-term holiday.
