As we come to the end of the academic year, we extend our heartfelt thanks and fondest farewell to Mr Neil Chippington, Head of St John’s since 2016. Over the past nine years, Mr Chippington has guided the School with unwavering dedication, warmth and vision—fostering a culture of curiosity, kindness and aspiration that has left a lasting legacy.
Mr Chippington’s time as Head has seen the School evolve and flourish across all aspects of its life—from the academic to the creative, the pastoral to the philosophical. His calm presence and thoughtful leadership were especially invaluable during the challenges of the pandemic, when his belief in the strength and resilience of the St John’s community helped steady the course for pupils, staff and families alike.
Serving as Head of St John’s has been a huge privilege. I will always be proud of what the children, staff and wider community have accomplished together. It has been a joy to witness not only the children’s academic growth, but their creativity, their compassion, and the wonderfully thought-provoking ways in which they see the world.
As he steps down, Mr Chippington hands over the leadership to Mrs Sarah Wright, whose deep understanding of the School’s values, combined with her clarity of vision and commitment to pupil wellbeing, promises a bright and exciting future. With Sarah’s steady hand and wholehearted approach, the School remains in the safest of hands.
We send Mr Chippington our warmest thanks and very best wishes—for all that he has given, and for all that lies ahead.
As you prepare to move on, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your leadership and support during your time as our Headmaster. Thank you for fostering an environment where dedication, respect, and high standards are genuinely valued. I hold many positive memories of your time at the helm of this very special ship, and I have a deep appreciation for the role you’ve played in shaping both the school and those within it.
