What a memorable Trips Week it was for our Senior House pupils as they wrapped up the academic year with trips and activities alongside their friends and teachers. Children from Forms 3 to 6 enjoyed a wonderful blend of adventure, teamwork, and fun—creating lasting memories.
Form 3 began their week with a special Staycation day, getting the Senior House site to themselves for a spa, pool disco and barbeque with music before they left for their trip on the Wednesday. On arrival they wasted no time diving into the action at PGL Caythorpe Court. Upon arrival, they launched straight into archery, followed by a cosy campfire complete with toasted marshmallows. The next day was packed with thrilling activities: Survivor Training, Raft Building, Problem Solving, Orienteering, and even a go at the Trapeze. After a fun-filled disco in the evening, the children rose early the next morning for their final adventure—rock climbing—before returning to Cambridge tired but beaming.
"PGL stands for Parents Get Lost! It was the best trip I have ever been on!"
Form 4 journeyed to Edale Activity Centre in the stunning Peak District. Their trip kicked off straight from the coach with team-building activities and a spirited welly-wanging competition. After a hearty supper, they set off on an exhilarating night hike. The following day brought climbing, crate stacking, weaselling, and a moorland orienteering challenge through the breathtaking landscape. It was a whirlwind of energy and enthusiasm, and everyone agreed it was a fantastic trip.
Form 5 headed south to Rockley on the Dorset coast in Poole for a water-based adventure. Their days were filled with sailing, canoeing, and paddleboarding—making the most of the beautiful seaside setting. They even had a preview of sports day with a tug-of-war contest on the sand! A beach barbecue and evening by the sea provided a perfect ending to their trip.
For Form 6, it was the much-anticipated Leavers' trip to the Ardèche region in France—a beloved St John's tradition. Their week was packed with unforgettable experiences: sleeping under the stars, browsing a local French market, and embarking on a scenic and often fast-paced two-day river descent. It was the perfect conclusion to their time at School and a beautiful way to celebrate the end of their SJCS journey.
"The Ardèche was incredible; it was the grand finale of my time at St John's."
