As part of their upcoming transition from Byron House to Senior House in the Michaelmas Term, our Form 2 pupils recently enjoyed a warm introduction by spending an afternoon in their future Form 3 classroom in Senior House, giving them a valuable first glimpse into their next academic chapter. Before this, they were introduced to a special companion for the year ahead—their Form 6 Buddy (currently in Form 5).
Each Form 2 child was matched with a Form 5 Buddy from the same house, joining a wider “Buddy Family” that includes others within their house. The morning began with the Form 5 pupils seated in their house groups under the Willow Tree as the Form 2 names were called, each child eagerly joined their new Buddy, marking the start of a supportive and fun friendship.
I was so happy meeting my buddy, he loves Lego just like me!
Together, the Buddies embarked on an informal tour of Senior House, giving the younger pupils a relaxed introduction to the space. The highlight of the morning was the much-anticipated Buddy Lunch—a chance to chat, laugh, and start forming bonds over a delicious lunch.
An extended playtime followed, filled with a variety of games, including the ever-popular “Man Hunt.” The energy was high, and the smiles were wide. The older students embraced their roles with grace and kindness, showing a genuine sense of responsibility and care. The Form 2s, in turn, were thrilled to have a "big friend" to guide them, answer their questions, and help ease the transition.
