KG and T1 were treated to an exciting and unforgettable experience when the Silverstone Museum outreach team visited St John’s for a full day of hands-on learning.

The children were thrilled from the moment the session began. They had the chance to try on real racing suits and helmets, stepping into the shoes of professional drivers and imagining what it might feel like to speed around a world-famous track. Working together, they also lifted genuine racing wheels, discovering just how much teamwork and strength are needed in the world of motorsport.

The engines get to 1000 degrees and you have to wear a helmet to protect your brain!

Throughout the day, pupils learnt about the importance of choosing the right tyres for different weather conditions and explored how these choices can affect performance and safety on the track. One of the most popular activities was testing their reaction times as they raced around a virtual course, cheering each other on and comparing their scores.
