Our Choristers enjoyed a truly memorable Christmas tour with St John's College Choir last December. Spirits were high as they made their way to their first destination, Luxembourg, where they performed in the beautiful Philharmonie Concert Hall to a sell‑out audience. After the concert, the Choristers were able to unwind with a delightful walk around Luxembourg’s Christmas markets.
The next stop on their tour was Heerlen in the Netherlands where they delivered a superb concert in the Parkstad Limburg Theater. Once again, the choristers impressed audiences with their professionalism and musicality. Their final destination was Groningen. Performing to yet another sold‑out auditorium, the choristers delivered a performance so moving that they received no fewer than four standing ovations.
It was a moment of immense pride for everyone involved and a testament to the hard work and dedication the children bring to the Choir.
This year’s tour also followed a busy and joyful Advent season in Cambridge, where the Choristers took part in a series of services and concerts in St John’s College Chapel. Their annual Christmas Concert, conducted by Director of Music Christopher Gray, drew a large and appreciative audience and featured a programme of traditional carols and festive favourites. The tour provided a wonderful opportunity to share this music with international audiences and to strengthen the choir’s long‑standing tradition of performing abroad during the Christmas period.
Watching the children rise to the occasion night after night was incredibly inspiring. They supported one another, sang with real heart, and represented the College and the School with maturity far beyond their years.
The Choristers once again demonstrated grace and professionalism, bringing great credit to both the College and the School.
